Tequila Grilled Steaks

Ingredients
  • 4 8 to 10 oz. New York strip steaks
  • trimmed, 1 - 1-1/2
  • 1/2 cup tequila
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 2 teaspoons grated lemon peel
  • 1 centiliter garlic
  • minced
  • salt to taste
Directions
  • Step 1 With a damp paper towel, wipe steaks
  • Step 2 put meat in a 1- gallon plastic food bag. Add tequila, oil, pepper, lemon peel, and garlic
  • Step 3 seal bag, and turn to mix seasonings. Set bag in a bowl
  • Step 4 chill at least 1 hour or up to 1 day
  • Step 5 turn bag over occasionally.
  • Step 6 Drain steaks and place on a grill 4 to 6 inches above a solid bed of hot coals (you can hold your hand at grill level only 2 to 3 seconds, or set gas barbecue at this heat)
  • Step 7 Turn steaks to brown evenly
  • Step 8 for medium-rare (cut to test), cook 12 to 14 minutes.
  • Step 9 Transfer meat to plates
  • Step 10 season to taste with salt.
